BENJAMIN BROWNSON (Ensemble) has been a fan of EL Stories and the Waltzing Mechanics for quite some time and is thrilled to finally be working with them on this great project! Benjamin is the Founding Artistic Director of Broken Nose Theatre, an Artistic Associate with Theatre Seven of Chicago, a Network Playwright at Chicago Dramatists, an Associate Producer with the Chicago Commercial Collective, and the Front of House Services Manager for the Greenhouse Theater Center.  He earned his MA in the Humanities from the University of Chicago, where he also conceived and directed the site-specific production Two Faces of Salome: An evening with Oscar Wilde and the Bible, at Rockefeller Chapel.  Other directing credits include Broken Nose Theatre’s hit Chicago Premiere of My First Time, assistant directing Hunting and Gathering with Theatre Seven and I Am Montana with Mortar Theatre Company, and he has served as dramaturg for the world premieres Córazon de Manzana (Mortar) and We Live Here (T7; Jeff Nomination for New Work).  As a playwright, his work has appeared in Chicago Dramatists Saturday Series, the InchWorm Playreading Series, and the Park Theatre in Holland, Michigan, and his play Beautiful Broken will receive its world premiere production with Broken Nose (directed by Thomas Murray) this March here at the Greenhouse.
